This checklist contains all decisions and information you need to provide before your Lobster Cloud environment can be installed. Review this list before the onboarding call so you are prepared to discuss each topic with the Lobster technician.

New installation

A completely new Lobster Cloud environment.

Migration

Migrating from an existing on-premise or cloud system. See the Migration to Lobster Cloud section for details.

AWS region

Information about the available AWS regions can be found here: AWS Regions and Data Residency

Important

The region cannot be changed after installation.

Environment configuration

Option

Description

Test + Production

Standard setup with a test and production environment.

Test with DMZ + Production with DMZ

Includes a DMZ server for each environment.

High Availability (HA)

Full HA setup with redundant components. Only available in Frankfurt.

Network range

Select one of the following private network ranges for your Lobster Cloud environment. This decision is critical if you plan to set up a VPN connection, as the range must not overlap with your local network.
The network areas provided can be found here: VPN Connections.

Important

The network range cannot be changed after installation.

System sizing

Software update preference

Option

Description

Updates performed by Lobster (recommended)

Lobster manages all software updates automatically according to the standard maintenance schedule.

Updates performed by the customer

You manage your update schedule via the Update Center. See the Software Update Policy page for details and risks.

Required information

Email server details

Lobster does not provide an email server. You must provide your own SMTP server details before installation.

Information

Details

SMTP server address

The hostname or IP of your email server.

Port

587 (SMTP with STARTTLS) or 465 (SMTPS). Port 25 is not available due to AWS restrictions.

Credentials

Username and password for SMTP authentication.

Sender email address

The email address used for outgoing notifications.

Recipient email address

The address used for monitoring notifications.

Ensure your firewall is configured to allow communication between the Lobster Cloud and your email server.


Contact information

Information

Details

Main contact person

Name and email of the primary technical contact.

Email addresses for installation protocol

All email addresses that should receive the system documentation after installation.

Required training

Any training needs for your team on the Lobster DATA Platform.


Conditional requirements

If you need a VPN connection

Firewall type

Your firewall must support IPsec/IKE.

Static public IP

Your firewall must have a static public IP address.

Local network ranges

Confirm that your chosen Lobster Cloud network range does not overlap with your local ranges.

If you would like to use AS2

Port

AS2 uses Port 443 (fixed, not changeable).

Certificate

Let's Encrypt certificates are not suitable for AS2. Prepare a self-signed or purchased certificate.

If you need custom DNS

Your domain name

The custom DNS name you want to use instead of .lobster-cloud.com.

DNS provider access

You require access to your DNS provider to create an A-Record (or CNAME for HA systems).

IF you would like to use SAP

SAP Connector driver

Provide the SAP connector driver compatible with ARM/AArch64 processors.


Allowlist before installation

Before installation, please add the following email address to your allowlist to ensure you receive your access credentials:

cloudportal@lobster.de

Your access credentials are sent automatically from this address. If you have not received an email after installation, please check your spam folder first. If the email is not there either, please open a ticket at support@lobster.de.

Important

Please keep your changed password in a safe place. For fresh installations, the password can be reset by opening a ticket at support@lobster.de. If your system is already in operation, a password reset is not possible.
