Lobster Cloud is a fully managed Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Lobster operates and controls the entire infrastructure, including servers, databases, networking, security, and updates. You have no direct access to the underlying infrastructure and cannot modify it. This standardized approach ensures consistent security, stability, and performance across all customer environments. You focus entirely on your data integration using the Lobster Data Platform via the web interface. See also Shared Responsibility Model
Your Lobster Cloud environment is a dedicated, isolated system provisioned exclusively for your organization. There are no shared resources between customers. Your data, your processing power, and your storage are yours alone.
The platform is fully compliant with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Swiss data protection legislation. Lobster is certified according to ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27018, and ISO 9001, ensuring that your data is managed under internationally recognized standards for information security, cloud privacy, and quality management.

How Lobster Cloud works
Lobster Cloud follows a standardized hosting model. Every system is built on a predefined, proven architecture that has been optimized for consistent performance, security, and reliability across all customer environments.
This standardization is a deliberate design decision. It allows Lobster to deliver enterprise-grade infrastructure management, including automated updates, continuous monitoring, and proactive incident resolution, at a level of quality that would be difficult to achieve with individually customized setups.
The architecture for both standard and high availability systems is a fixed standard that cannot be modified on a per-customer basis. This approach ensures that every Lobster Cloud customer benefits from the same level of operational excellence, security hardening, and performance optimization.
What your subscription includes
Every Lobster Cloud subscription provides you with a comprehensive set of managed services. The following table gives you an overview of what is covered as part of your hosting environment:
Area | What Lobster manages for you |
|---|---|
Infrastructure | Dedicated AWS compute instances (EC2), managed databases (RDS/Aurora), virtual private cloud (VPC) networking, and storage, all provisioned and maintained by Lobster |
Operating System | Automated OS updates and security patches, applied on a monthly schedule across all your environments |
Database | Full database administration, including weekly maintenance, performance monitoring, and automated failover for high availability systems |
Firewall management, SSL certificates (Let's Encrypt), network isolation between customers, and role-based access control | |
24/7 automated system monitoring with problem detection and alerting with auto-healing. Optional upgrade to premium monitoring with on-call response. | |
Daily automated backups with 30-day retention for your production environment and 7-day retention for test environments | |
Staggered deployment of Lobster Data Platform updates. Your test system receives updates first; your production system follows three weeks later. |
Hosting regions
Your Lobster Cloud system is hosted in AWS data centers within Europe. You can choose from the following regions during the initial setup.
Information about the available AWS regions can be found here: AWS Regions and Data Residency
Important
The hosting region is selected during your Pre-Call and cannot be changed after installation.
Four editions for every requirement
Lobster Cloud is available in four editions, each designed for a specific scale and availability requirement.
Every edition follows a clear upgrade path. For detailed specifications of each edition, including vCPU, RAM and storage configurations, see the Editions and Sizing page.
The standardized service model
Lobster Cloud is an iPaaS solution, not a custom hosting arrangement. This distinction is important because it defines both what the platform delivers and what it intentionally does not offer.
What Lobster Cloud provides for you:
A fully managed, production-ready environment for your Lobster Data Platform
Automated infrastructure operations, including patching, monitoring, and backups
A proven, standardized architecture optimized for reliability and security
A clear, predictable maintenance schedule with advance notifications
Professional support through a structured ticket system
What is not part of the Lobster Cloud service:
Direct access to the underlying servers, operating systems, or databases
Installation of third-party software, custom scripts, or additional containers
Individual modifications to the infrastructure architecture
Cloud services beyond the standard package (EC2, RDS, VPC, and, for HA systems, Redis and EFS/FSx)
This managed approach ensures that Lobster maintains full control over the security, stability, and performance of your environment at all times.
Accessing Your System
You access your Lobster Data Platform through a standard web browser via HTTPS (Port 443). Multiple users from your organization can work in the system simultaneously. All configuration, monitoring, and administration of your integration processes are performed through the Lobster web interface.
There is no need for you to manage servers, install software, or handle infrastructure tasks. If you require changes to your environment, such as opening additional ports, configuring a VPN connection, or adjusting firewall rules, you can submit a request through the Lobster support ticket system.
System status and transparency
The Lobster Cloud status page provides an overview of the current health of the Lobster Cloud infrastructure. Maintenance notifications and service disruptions are published here as they occur.
