After your Lobster Cloud environment has been installed, you receive a detailed installation protocol by email. This document contains all system-specific information you need for ongoing operations, including IP addresses, DNS entries, and configuration details.
What the installation protocol contains
Information | Description |
|---|---|
System URL | The URL to access your Lobster Data Platform (HTTPS, Port 443). |
Public IP addresses | The public IP addresses of your system. Required if you want to configure custom DNS (A-Record) or if your partners need to whitelist your system. |
Internal IP addresses | The private IP addresses within your VPC. Required for Transport Manager connectivity (Port 8020) and VPN routing. |
DNS entries | Your standard .lobster-cloud.com DNS names for each system component. |
Network range | The private network range selected during the onboarding. |
System components | Overview of all provisioned components (LDP, DMZ, database, etc.) with their respective details. |
Port configuration | The active ports on your system. |
Customization options after installation
Although the cloud infrastructure is fully managed by Lobster, several customization options are available to you.
Customization | Details |
|---|---|
You can use your domain names instead of the standard .lobster-cloud.com addresses. Create an A-Record with the public IP addresses from the installation protocol. For High Availability systems, a CNAME to the original Lobster DNS name is recommended. | |
Additional ports (for example, for FTP, SFTP, AS2, OFTP2) can be requested via support ticket to support@lobster.de. Include the system, direction, desired port, IP addresses, and purpose in your request. | |
You can install and manage your certificates from trusted certification authorities within the Lobster Data Platform. Custom certificates (not Certbot) must be renewed annually by you. For AS2 communication, custom or self-signed certificates are recommended. | |
Software configuration | You have full access to configure the Lobster Data Platform via the web interface, including profiles, mappings, channels, integrations, and user management. |
Who receives the installation protocol
The installation protocol is sent to all email addresses that were designated during the onboarding. If additional people in your organization need this information, you can forward the document or request that Lobster sends to additional recipients via support@lobster.de.
How to use the installation protocol
Use Case | Relevant Information |
|---|---|
Use the public IP addresses to create A-Record entries with your DNS provider. | |
Configuring Transport Manager | Use the internal IP address listed in the protocol. Transport Manager operates exclusively on Port 8020 via private IP. |
Whitelisting with partners | Share your public IP addresses with trading partners who need to add your system to their firewall rules. |
Use the internal IP and network range details for routing configuration on your local firewall. | |
Troubleshooting connectivity | Reference the port configuration and IP addresses when diagnosing connection issues. |
Keep the installation protocol safe
The installation protocol contains sensitive system information (IP addresses, network ranges, configuration details). Store it securely and share it only with authorized personnel within your organization.
